Peace Love and Poms Rescue

Arf Arf!  My name is Smokey and I am an 18 pound 8 year old shih tzu!  I'm at the part of my journey where I'm ready to find my forever home.  You see my family passed away and I was not in good shape when I was surrendered to PLPR.  I was covered in mats, couldn't see through my fur, and had a hidden skin infection.  These nice people had me shaved and boy did I feel better and I was much nicer with accepting the human pets since I wasn't hurting anymore.  I like a low key home with maybe one other female dog, but would love it even better to be an only child.  I am housebroken, love walks (plus the daily walks are helping me shed these extra pounds I am carrying around), and I love toys.  I do need some time to adjust to a new home, but warm up quickly to be the loving sweet boy I am.  I do need a fenced yard to allow me time to warm up to my new family because I can be grumpy with new people taking my harness off or attaching a leash.  Treats also help me feel comfortable.  My foster pawrents say I will be great addition to a family that is free from children.
