Gino oh Gino where do we begin! This gorgeous little 9 pound 9 year old guy was an anxious mess, but with a little Prozac and consistency he has truly blossomed! Once he arrived to PLPR he took almost a month to settle in and trust us. During those first weeks, we did keep a leash attached to his harness so he wasn't startled or stressed out by handling. This little man seeks his trusted humans for comfort when he is scared, which used to be all the time, but he has learned from his furry friends how to be a dog after all these years. He still can be quirky, and needs a patient owner that will allow Gino to do things on his terms and treats are the key to him learning. He has perfected his house training, and really loves to go for walks. He does best in an adult only home and while he would prefer to be the only dog, he does do well with dogs that aren't super nergetic and understand personal space. Once Gino settles in he will be your shadow, want held, and be with you. He really needs a calm home that will give him all the space and time to settle in and not expect him to be okay with handling right away. After he settles in you will know because he will stand up and hug your leg which is his way of saying I love you now hold me! He is the most adorable little man, and should be kept groomed with a puppy cut because he hates being brushed despite our attempts using positive reinforcement. He has learned that vet visits arent so bad and is accepting of the staff doing what they need to with a little trazadone beforehand. We are hoping a patient family without children will give this guy a chance to be loved and cherished, quirks and all because he deserves it!
