Luca is a beautiful 1 year old, 9 pound orange Sable boy looking for his happily ever after! You see Luca was the unlucky recipient of two recessive genes from each of his parents leaving him to be born with congenital methemoglobinemia. Yes it's a long scary word, but it basically means the blood doesn't carry enough oxygen through his body. Don't worry, he is expected to live a full life, and we are already seeing improvement with his gum color since starting a medication for his condition. He will need this medication once a day for life and it is compounded into pill form with a cost of about $70 per month (you can price shop, but we needed to get the medication started right away). Now onto the best part, Luca is the SWEETEST boy and loves his people. He enjoys lounging and getting his pets, he loves to eat and do tricks for treats, loves car rides, walks, toys, and playing with other dogs. He just doesn't like sharing his food so crate feeding is recommended, The tiny chis in his foster home wrestle hard with him, and Luca loves it, but he doesn't care for bigger dogs. He will bark at them relentlessly if he sees big dogs, but hey don't most Poms. He is pretty well house trained with regular potty breaks. He is crate trained too. He is one beautiful little guy looking for his forever family now that he is diagnosed and fixed up.
