Schnauzer (short coat) : : Female : : Adult : : Small Learn more about the Schnauzer.
Fostered in North Augusta, SC. We adopt anywhere in the US. Dori Ann is a 16-pound bundle of pure miniature schnauzer love! She spent the first eight years of her life in a puppy mill, so she is learning how to be a dog! She is on a regular potty break schedule and has had zero accidents in the house. She does not know how to jump on and off furniture, so she needs to be supervised on furniture until she learns how to jump down safely. She didn’t know how to do stairs either and has mastered going up a short flight but not going down them. She thinks she is Superwoman and can take one flying leap down them all, so supervised stair navigation, please! She is doing well on leash training but likes to grab the leash if you go in a direction she doesn’t agree with. She knows her name and will take a gentle redirect of the word “no” as she is learning to play with dog toys and doesn’t understand the difference between toys and house slippers! She follows her foster parents all over the house and will put her front legs up on you and ask for pets. She loves to be held in your lap while watching TV and will relax and fall asleep. She is starting to be vocal and will “talk” to you while you prepare her meals or greet you when you come home. She has some cute mannerisms, too. She seems to “laugh”! She will open her mouth wide and throw her little head back like she just shared a funny joke with you and is laughing. She is passive and dog-friendly. She just recently started chasing birds and squirrels but still has not barked. She sleeps in her crate at night but is in the bedroom and has a visual of her foster parents. She is still timid and building her confidence but has made great progress since first coming to the rescue. She is the sweetest girl ever. Big bonus, as Schnauzers have a double coat, shedding is practically non-existent, but she will need grooming to keep her coat from matting. To adopt Dori Ann, please complete an adoption application at peacelovepoms.rescuegroups.org. The $350 adoption donation ($250 for senior citizens 65+) includes core vaccines (Rabies, Parvo/Distemper, and Bordatella), Accuplex (Heart worm and Lyme test), fecal, microchip, bloodwork, spay, dental, and all the love you can handle!
